Mayflower, AR
The city of Mayflower, AR, is located in southern Faulkner County along Interstate 40, about 10 miles south of Conway. Mayflower covers a land area of almost four square miles on the southwestern shores of Lake Conway, home to roughly 2,500 people.
Mayflower is located in the middle of an area known as Muskogee Silt Loam, where the earliest settlers arrived in 1778. Railroad construction got underway a century later, and the area’s first post office opened in 1880. Mayflower today functions as a tight-knit community under the motto, “Small Town Atmosphere, Big City Access.” A large Magnolia tree stands at the corner of Center and Miller streets. It’s more than 100 years old and serves as one of the city’s primary historical markers.
